Key Responsibilities

· Conduct annual appraisals in line with GMC and Responsible Officer requirements.

· Facilitate coaching-led, reflective discussions that encourage professional growth and extended scope practice.

· Review and validate appraisal portfolios against GMC standards.

· Provide constructive, balanced feedback and ensure timely documentation (within 28 days).

· Contribute to quality assurance and governance processes.

· Maintain own professional appraisal and CPD.

· Model fairness, inclusivity, confidentiality, and high professional standards.

Essential Criteria:

· GMC-registered doctor with licence to practise.

· Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience.

· Completed a minimum of 3 appraisal cycles (outside training posts).

· Understanding of GMC Good Medical Practice and appraisal-revalidation link.

· Strong coaching and communication skills, including active listening and feedback.

· IT proficiency and ability to use appraisal tools effectively.

· Knowledge of equality, diversity, data protection, and confidentiality.

· Track record of professionalism, reliability, and integrity.

· No performance, quality, or sickness concerns.

Desirable Criteria:

· Previous appraisal experience (internal/external).

· Experience in clinical governance, audit, education, or quality improvement.

· Interest in coaching, mentoring, or leadership development.
